RESTORATION
Here at Carburatori we specialise in Italian Webers and offer a Servicing, Restoration, and Tuning service.
Upon receipt of your carburettors
-
A full strip down will be carried out with a detailed inspection of each component ensuring serviceability, contact may be made at this stage to discuss your options regarding the condition of the carburettor and final costing, dependent on any specialised repair/machining required.
-
Vapour blasting is carried out to the bodies to remove all staining and visible corrosion. There are two options as to the final finish of the carburettor bodies.
A high satin finish or that of a more traditional matt finish.
-
The carburettor then undergoes Ultrasonic cleaning to ensure optimal performance of internal galleries.
-
A thorough drying and inspection process is carried out with all internal galleries blown through with compressed air.
-
Jets and associated brass components undergo ultrasonic cleaning/polishing.
-
Throttle shafts are checked for warping and levers are plated to restore a factory finish in either silver or yellow passivate.
-
Carb to manifold surfaces refaced if needed.
-
Re-assembly can then begin with float levels set.
-
A genuine weber service kit is used along with only genuine weber factory componentry, such as top cover screws and studs, which lesser services tend to scrimp on.
-
Jetting can be set to original specifications or that of customers request.
-
Upon completion of assembly, a leak test is carried out to ensure sealing of needle valves.
-
Flow bench testing is then carried out to ensure correct parameters for throttle plates.
-
Items are packed ready for delivery or collection
Final set up of the carburettors may be required when re-assembled on the vehicle, dependent on vehicle specification. We recommend a session on a rolling road dyno to achieve peak performance.
We have over 30 years experience in this department which differentiates us from the competition and can offer this service along with the knowledge of how to build carburettors correctly to ensure the highest levels of performance.
Due to the fact we have the largest stock of weber spares available to us, it allows us to offer a quick turn around on restorations, dependent on workload and level of repairs required.
TIG welding, helicoils and repairs of mixture ports amongst other common damage associated with mishandled carburettors can be used to repair damaged, cracked or broken carburettors considered to be, beyond repair.
An example of a full restoration carried out on a rare 40DCO3 can be seen in the photos.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and we can talk you through your options.
